Customers cut risks of lost connectivity and threat vulnerability to nil

AUSTIN, Texas, April 9, 2019 - GFI Software, Aurea SMB Solutions announced today that Kerio Control has added high availability and fail-over protection to its award-winning network firewall appliance for small and medium-size enterprises.

Over 25,000 organizations depend on Kerio Control appliances for Internet connectivity and iron-clad defence against Internet threats such as viruses, malware, and hacker attacks. With today’s announcement, those organizations will be able to eliminate the risk and cost of connectivity or threat-protection downtime.

To initiate high-availability, new and existing customers acquire and install a second, same Kerio Control appliance or virtual machine. A single software license will cover the two pieces of hardware. Customers configure the second device as a clone of the active one. Configuration settings are easy-to-do and take minutes. Once configured, the two devices connect through a synching port and all rules and routing are replicated and kept up-to-date between them.

Without high-availability, prime device failure due to a power surge or other cause often leads network administrators to put a simple router in place to re-establish connectivity. There may be lost productivity waiting for this solution. But worse, the network is vulnerable to security threats until the secure gateway is repaired or replaced.

With high-availability, if a crash or failure occurs the second machine jumps into action immediately. Users see no drop of service and more importantly, the organization has no vulnerability exposure.

“Reliable communication and Internet technology are crucial while you are on the sea. Kerio Control has established itself as the standard for an industry that pushes the need for reliability to the limits. GFI’s commitment to further push the capability and reliability of Kerio Control with this latest HA capability anchors their position as the standard,” says Ed Lasher of Yachtcomputing. “We choose to offer Kerio Control to our customers because it is easy to install, intuitive to manage and the only product we trust in market that all but eliminates the ability to make a service call," Mr. Lasher says.

“This latest release for Kerio Control underlines the GFI commitment to continue developing its portfolio of network, security and communications products for the SMB market,” says Dan Beer, General Manager of GFI Software. “We pride ourselves on delivering right-size solutions for customers like Yachtcomputing. Their clients, who may be at sea hundreds of miles away from tech support, need to know their networks are always up and secure.”
